1. Suggestions such as “just exercise”, “just eat right”, or “just” anything.

If it were that simple or easy, I would’ve already done it, I assure you. I have researched what I have at length, I promise you I have looked into everything with even the slightest possibility of working, as time went on and my conditions worsened, became more of a burden than I originally thought they would be I have had to become an expert on as many subjects relating to my conditions as my ability permits. I don’t mind suggestions when they’re well-meaning, if you genuinely think I might never have heard of something before, but if you repeatedly tell me to do something after I’ve already told you, especially repeatedly that it doesn’t or will not work, you’re operating on the premise that I don’t know my condition(s). You are suggesting that you know my body better than my doctors, by going against their recommendations or, even, me which is extremely arrogant.

2. Mind over matter.

“You can just will the pain away, right?” It’s “all in your head”. Frankly, I have never found this to be a matter of importance, that it particularly matters except to figure out the correct treatment, to know what methods or medications to try for your particular illness. To everyone else who is not you or your doctor, however, the point is moot…
